16 August - Roger Goldring & Rick Lilley retain the Open Doubles tournament 'Iain Lindsay Cups'

The Goldring / Lilly combo won our Open Doubles tournament for the second year in a row, at the end of a very hot and long day today. 

They qualified in second place in their block behind Helena Fensome and Andy Jones who were undefeated in the morning.

In the other block, Robin Coates and Dianne Browne were also undefeated and were joined in qualification by Chris Roberts and Frances Colman.

In the afternoon 'Trophy Block' is was the two morning runners-up who emerged into a de facto final game that went on to 1845, and thanks to some super and consistent clearing stoked Goldring & Lilley defeated Roberts & Colman 2-7 to retain the Iain Lindsay Cups.

There was some good play by the higher handicapped players today, most notably from John and Sue Rumford who were fearless when taking (and scoring) long range hoops - the took top seeds Roberts and Colman to 6-7 and beat Terje Johansen & Raghu Iyer in  morning block games.

Johansen & Iyer recovered from three morning losses to win the Plate event in the afternoon.
